Overview

TAV. 00

External thermal insulation (ETICS) is the most common way to upgrade existing buildings. It wraps the building in a continuous shell that removes thermal bridges and moves the dew point outside the wall: the envelope stays warmer in winter and cooler in summer, protected from the thermal shocks that crack renders. It is the basis of almost every energy-efficiency retrofit.

How-to

TAV. H
  1. 01

    Substrate preparation

Cleaning, levelling and flatness check of the wall. Removal of loose parts and primer application.

  2. 02

    Bonding the panels

Adhesive application and laying of insulation panels from the bottom up, with staggered joints.

  3. 03

    Mechanical fixing

Mechanical fixing with expansion anchors after the adhesive has cured (typically 24-48h).

  4. 04

    Reinforced base coat

Application of the base coat with embedded glass-fibre mesh, in two layers.

  5. 05

    Finish coat

Application of the breathable, protective final coat (mineral or silicate render).
